YOU WANT TO PURCHASE AN ANIMAL FROM THE MARKET SALE
Animals are sold based on their weight. For example, a 260-pound market swine priced at $4.00 per pound would total $1,040 for the buyer.
Once purchased, the buyer owns the animal and can coordinate with a custom slaughterhouse for pickup, cutting, and wrapping.
The sale proceeds go to the youth involved in the project.
Prices fluctuate depending on the animal, its placement in the show, and the level of interest from buyers.
YOU WANT TO SUPPORT AN ANIMAL AT THE MARKET SALE WITHOUT BUYING ONE
“TURN BUYER”
You can support the youth by contributing to their project animals. The show provides buyers for the animals at market price, and your additional support helps enhance the youth’s project.
For example, consider a 280-pound market swine.
- The market price is $0.70 per pound.
- The sale price is $3.00 per pound.
- 280 pounds at $3.00 per pound equals $840.
- The market price at $0.70 per pound amounts to $196.
- The additional support provided is $2.30 per pound, totaling $644.
The supporter pays the $644, which represents the additional support for the youth’s project. Meanwhile, the packer purchases the animal for $196. This way, the youth receives both the market price for their animal and the extra funds to help with their project. All the money goes to the youth.
